Welcome to Astron Dog Training

Astron Dog Training courses are aimed at the pet dog in the family unit. They provide sound instruction for the family pet dog using positive reward techniques which can be tailored to suit the individual dog.

All Classes and courses must be pre-booked. Classes are held near M11 Junction 8.

Tuesday evenings 7 - 7.45pm for Puppy Classes and 8.00 - 9.00pm for Foundation Training at Ugley Village Hall on the B1383. There is a 15 minute break between classes for you to bring me any individual concerns.

Thursday mornings 11am – 12 noon Mixed Ability Class on Hatfield Forest. This class is followed by a coffee or lunch at the Forest Café, beside the beautiful lake, which extends the dogs’ socialisation. This is optional but, usually has lots of 'dog' talk so that we all learn more. The class continues during the winter but please be at the Main Gate by 10.50am for me to unlock and relock the gate.

Please note; Hatfield Forest is a National Trust Property so you will need to be a Trust member for the Thursday morning class as entrance fees apply.

You will be expected to follow an Action Plan for 10 minutes a day between classes for you to train your dog, coming to class enables me to show you how. A Help Sheet will be handed to you each week, using this for 10 minutes training each day will help you get the most from your course.

If your dog has major problems that mean a class is not for them, why not try one-to-one sessions which are tailored to suit your dog’s particular difficulties? You may be able to move into a class after you have followed your Action Plan.

The courses are designed to cover your individual requirements.

No two courses are the same as the puppies, dogs and owners will change and the needs will be different.

The course will teach you;

1     Non-aggressive methods to help with all aspects of dog ownership.

2.    Canine behaviour to help you anticipate your dog’s actions.

3.    Sufficient basic nutrition to help you make good decisions for your dogs’ wellbeing.

4.    Some T-touches developed by Linda Tellington-Jones to help enhance your dogs’ life.

5.    The basics of Clicker Training

6.    Grooming and handling.

7.    Basic commands i.e. STAY, walking on a loose lead and coming when called.

8.    Socialisation with other dogs and humans.
